Aspiring Writers Must Read This

Thinking about what it is like to be a writer is a first step you take before you learn the steps to write a book. There is a bit more to it than you probably think. There are many things to consider first.

Writers are vivid dreamers. Being able to visualize something is a requirement for writing professionally. Novels, poems and stories are nothing more than dreams captured on paper. Without having the dream in place, the finished product will not come to fruition. There is a first step for everything in life. Visualizing is the first step for a writer.

Developing your imagination is very important if you are serious about this. If you can clearly imagine exactly what the scene looks like, it will be much easier to recreate that image for your reader. Clarity is essential. How are you going to be able to allow the reader to precisely visualize what you are attempting to show him without clearly seeing the picture for yourself?

Authors usually have a favorite place to work. There is usually one place that is better than all the rest where your creativity is at its full potential. You need to discover this place for yourself. If you’re wise, you’ll do everything you can to preserve or improve that work space. This will be a major factor in your productivity level.

To an author, a blank piece of paper is like a painter’s canvas waiting to become a masterpiece. You should think of it in the same way. Every blank page has the potential to become a Picasso.

Then the real magic begins. Now it is time to morph that blank page into an art form that will capture the reader’s attention and paint a picture for him that is bright and vivid.

There were just the two of them standing at the bar. The bartender was near the other end. They looked like a perfect couple. Paul commanded a real room presence with his salt and pepper hair and six foot three inch physically fit stature. Susan was an equally attractive female counterpart with her wavy long platinum blond hair leading down to her lightly tanned shoulders. She was a real vixen in that black cocktail dress.

You really have to love it when you know you have captured your reader’s attention. It is very hypnotic. Being able to influence the minds of other people is indeed very powerful. This is the most rewarding reason to become a professional writer.
